Bargain bathroom Tuesday

Today saw the first big purchase for the house, a bargain bathroom with a saving of over £900! Giddyup! Delivery in two weeks, fitting hopefully within the year :o)

Back to brick Sunday

End of the first weekend and it’s been a mixed bag. We saw our first wedding on Saturday afternoon, Jac had a good nosey.

We’ve made good start on the house ridding the back bedroom of its fitted wardrobe and starting the wallpaper stripping. Both revealed unexpected results though. The fitted wardrobe was hiding parts of 2 walls that have no plaster on them – back to brick (part 1).

Stripping the bathroom and parts of the front bedroom revealed a problem with the internal brickwork. There’s been a bit of a shift in the internal wall, which was the cause of the crack in the plaster and has shown itself as a crack in the brickwork. I think it’s probably caused by pressure from the roof, but we’ll have to see what the expert opinion is – back to brick though, guaranteed (part 2).

Bad things come in threes, so just to add to the problems the stop cock has sprung a leak when turned on, so the carpet is up early in the hall – nice wood flooring though. The stop cock is fitted to the old lead pipe so might be a bit of a faff to fix, anyone know a good plumber.

At least we’ve found all these things in the first weekend..plenty of time to put things right…good job!

A potential find?

This original painting was left on the wall by the previous owner...anyone know an E. Cornwell? Something for Antiques Roadshow perhaps?
