While the cats away...

Just to let you know we got the coving up the stairs...but it wasn't easy! It's now up and on the master bedroom walls and I don't think we've done too bad a job of it at all. After a slightly shaky start with the mix on the adhesive it all went quite well. Well, it's still up, that's the main thing.

Jac's been away for the last few days in Boston, USA on a conference, but undeterred I've finished caulking the gaps, re-done the cutting in and given the 'feature walls' their second coat. All in all not looking bad at all. Just the skirting/architrave left now really.

I'll get some photos up soon, but Jac took the camera with her!

We're back!

It's been a while but we've finally got some more updates to share. As is probably normal, we got ourselves moved in and then sat amongst the dust and rubble and kinda got used to it all. That said, we've moved a few things along now...not many, but a few.

2 months behind our initial schedule, we finally have a fully functional shower, with tiles and screen and running water and everything :o)

We've also had the rollers out again, giving the main front bedroom it's first coat. The plan here is to wallpaper the chimney breast (shown here with the colour samples on) with a complimentary purple paper to make a nice feature wall to put the bed against.

This room is just waiting for some coving and skirting before we do the papering. Probably should have done the coving first, but we got a bit carried away with the paint! We've bought the coving...in 4.2 metre lengths, which all seemed like a perfect idea at the time so we'd only have 1 joint along the long wall, but we didn't really think about how to get all these up the stairs!

Box of coving ready to head upstairs...somehow!

And finally...after much debate and financial pondering, we've managed to get ourselves a kitchen ordered. Still got loads of work to do on the actual room, not to mention a bit more plumbing and electric work, so there'll be nothing really for a few months yet, but here are the plans all the same.

Main worktop length. The worktops look black in the picture but they're actually a darker brown kinda colour. The actual hob and extractor are black too, not chrome. Note the feature doors too.

Due to the width of the room we can't get 2 standard width worktops on both sides, so we've had to put a slimline storage area on the opposite wall. Plenty of good storage though.

The understairs area is to be used for the integrated fridge freezer and double oven, getting the taller units off the main wall so we can best use the space. This angle also shows the mini breakfast bar area off the end of the main worktop length.

Right, that's about it for now, plenty to be getting on with. I suppose the next update will be when we finally get that coving upstairs!!
